"HeARTwork" is a special collection of pieces centering around self-expression and expressions of the heart. It features artwork created by children and youth of all abilities during art therapy sessions at Center for All Abilities (CAA). The pieces in the collection reflect each artist's innate creativity, each artist's expressive voice, and each artist's heart. Those with neurodevelopment challenges often struggle with expressing their emotions, sometimes due to language difficulties and other times due to challenges with emotional awareness or connecting with others. Art becomes a way for them to express themselves freely and without words. Creating art is inherently playful, expressive, and rewarding, and its positive experiences of being "capable" and "in flow are fundamental for growth and development.

We all have a story to tell and a desire for our voices to be heard. "HeARTwork" invites you to look, listen, and enter the creative expression of each of these artists. Perhaps you may find yourselves seeing the world through their eyes and feeling the world with their heart.

The Gallery at W83

At the Gallery at W83, we cultivate art and community on the Upper West Side, providing space for personal engagement, community conversations, and spiritual reflection, and collaborate with local artists from diverse backgrounds to explore universal themes of culture, community, and faith.

We bring together different perspectives in this space as an invitation to join in conversations we believe are vital to us all. We affirm the artist's right to express their views independently, and the views expressed by the artists are their own and do not necessarily represent the Gallery at W83 or Redeemer West Side.
