"Show Up and Show Out": An exhibition by AHRC NYC’s Fisher Center Artists
December 1 - January 29, 2024
The W83 Gallery and the AHRC New York City present "Show Up and Show Out", an exhibition by artists who attend the Fisher Center, a day program that serves adults with intellectual disabilities in East Harlem.
The interests of the artists span a broad range of subject matter, including portraits, flowers, cartoon characters, famous singers and movie stars, letters, geometry and abstraction. A love of color is a central theme of the work.
Through their artwork, the artists gain a sense of purpose, accomplishment and self-esteem. They also find a sense of community in the art studios at the center as the artists work together to realize their projects.
We hope this exhibition shows that creativity lives in everyone, and that all people bring their own aesthetic sensibility to the world.
The weaving program at Fisher is a collaboration with Intertwine Arts, a nonprofit that brings freeform weaving to people of all ages.

about the gallery
At the Gallery at W83, we cultivate art and community on the Upper West Side, providing space for personal engagement, community conversations, and spiritual reflection, and collaborate with local artists from diverse backgrounds to explore universal themes of culture, community, and faith.
We bring together different perspectives in this space as an invitation to join in conversations we believe are vital to us all. We affirm the artist's right to express their views independently, and the views expressed by the artists are their own and do not necessarily represent the Gallery at W83 or Redeemer West Side.
