Photographer Sara Bennett returns to the Gallery at W83 with Life After Life in Prison: The Bedroom Project, a continuation of her original Life After Life in Prison series.
Fifteen to thirty years in maximum security prison left the women in Sara Bennett’s photos profoundly changed. Having overcome the struggles of repeatedly denied parole, constant supervision, lack of personal space, and limited freedom of choice, how do they cope when given back their freedom and a place of their own? Through Bennett’s photos and their own handwritten words, we are invited into these women’s personal spaces and given a glimpse of their lives after incarceration.
Opening reception is 6:30 to 8:30 pm, free and open to the public.
The exhibit runs through January 6, 2019.
