Washington Heights Arts Salon

The Washington Heights Arts Salon will be meeting in person to celebrate Carey Wallace’s latest book, Stories of the Saints: Bold and Inspiring Tales of Adventure, Grace, and Courage. The salon will be meeting in an outdoor space, practicing social distancing and following CDC and NYC Department of Health guidelines.

The Washington Heights Arts Salon is a gathering of artists and friends where it's okay to talk about faith and spirituality. NYU art professor Thomas Crow recently said art is "probably the last remnant of magic we have." Art can serve as common ground for talking about mystery, meaning, and faith in a pluralistic culture. We hope these salons foster such dialogue between artists, religious believers or not, highlight the rich spiritual heritage and powers of art, and contribute to the arts in Washington Heights.

Carey Wallace is the author of the novels Choose (2005), The Blind Contessa's New Machine (2010), The Ghost in the Glass House (2013). Her work has appeared in Detroit's MetroTimesTIME, and several literary magazines. She is also a founder of the Working Artists Initiative for the International Arts Movement, which helps emerging artists establish strong creative habits.
