"Ours On Trust": Artist Talk

We invite you to a virtual Artist Talk with Katie Joy Nellis and James Hoston in conjunction with their virtual exhibit, "Ours On Trust", currently on view HERE.
Katie Joy and James will share about their process, their works, and their life as artists. There will be a time for questions and engagement with the artists as well.

This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration will be required via Zoom.


About the artists

Katie Joy Nellis paints from her home in Coatesville, PA. She studied painting at Gordon College in Massachusetts and in Orvieto, Italy. Since graduating in 2013 she has worked as a self-employed artist, illustrator, and art tutor. She specializes in oil portraits on wood.

James Hoston earned his B.F.A. in Illustration from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and his M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at The Fashion Institute of Technology. He was formerly a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute and also formerly an Adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Art in Manhattan, New York.
James has exhibited works at the Hirschl and Adler Modern Gallery, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Copley Society in Boston, the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, Long Island, the Dorsey Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, the Geppi Entertainment Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, and the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. 
His illustrations have been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators as a member, the Pennsylvania Academy of Art, and venues all across the United States. James has extensive work experience with the fine artist Jeff Koons, Marvel Entertainment Group, and the Evergreene Architectural Arts, Inc., all in Manhattan, New York. 
James maintains his studio and resides in Brooklyn, New York.
