"Sewn to Restore" Visual Story Exhibit & elegantees runway @W83: Restoring lives one tee at a time

  • W83 Ministry Center 150 W. 83rd Street NEW YORK United States (map)

"The clothing we wear often is linked to human trafficking. It's estimated that 98% of clothing was made with exploited labor or straight up child labor. As a fashion designer, I take a stand to do the exact opposite of this. For over a decade, my company, Elegantees, has been employing survivors of human trafficking, and women that were at risk, to make the clothing. The redemptive workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal is restoring lives, one elegant tee at a time" - K.M

Join us for "Sewn to Restore" to see the visual story by designer Katie Martinez, Founder of Elegantees.com through the lens of Prabin Kumari-Karki. Experience at this exhibit and fashion show a representation of healing, dignity, and hope, through empowerment, and the fight against slavery and human trafficking.

SAVE THE DATE for her fashion show during the upcoming NYFW. It will be held in our W83 Loft on Saturday, September 7 at 5 pm

Katie is a fashion designer and justice focused entrepreneur. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, founded a clothing company in 2010 that is still here today, and loves to use her gifts to fight human trafficking. Katie is a follower of Christ, and lives in Uptown Manhattan with her husband and two children.
